The truth about weight loss that nobody is telling you

I will always scream it from the rooftops... You do NOT need to lose weight to be healthy! Weight gain can be 2 things: completely and totally normal (and we just live in a society that tells us if you aren't a size 2 you need to lose weight), OR it can be a symptom of a deeper issue.

Weight gain does not CAUSE health issues, health issues often do cause weight gain though.

The truth is, the “right” thing for weight loss is different for everyone! When you start looking at weight gain as a symptom of deeper issues, you can actually address it, without depriving yourself, feeling defeated, and frustrated.

Let’s talk about some potential reasons you are not getting the weight loss results you want:
✨ vitamin and mineral deficiencies
✨ toxic burden
✨ imbalanced stress hormones
✨ thyroid dysfunction (even if your TSH was normal)
✨ gut issues

As you can see, there are a number of reasons you might be experiencing weight gain even though you seem to be doing all of the “right things.” But here’s the thing, the “right things” just might be the thing that is keeping you from getting your desired results. So, I want to give you some truths to consider when it comes to weight gain:

  • We NEED vitamins and minerals

    • we often think in order to lose weight we must eat less, but that does not mean we have to eat less quality foods

    • if you are experiencing weight gain even though you think you should be losing weight, it is likely due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies as a result of depriving yourself of essential nutrients

    • deficiencies in essential nutrients can harm your metabolism, making it harder to lose weight

  • Less does not equal more

    • we all know the knowing less is more, but when it comes to nutrition this is not the right mindset

    • eating less ultimately will harm your body and prevent weight loss, despite being in a caloric deficit

    • eating less can cause hormone imbalances and gut problems

  • Here is what actually matters for weight loss:

    • exercise to your body’s needs, not to kill your body

    • food is fuel, so fuel your body to meet its nutrient needs

    • consume 20-30 grams of fiber daily

    • consume high-protein meals

    • get your thyroid tested because thyroid dysfunction can cause weight gain

    • balance your circadian rhythm to reduce the release of stress hormones

Let’s look at a client of mine who came to me struggling to lose weight, no matter she did. She had tried everything:

  • optavia

  • intermittent fasting

  • ozempic

All of these were just temporary fixes. She wanted a long-term, sustainable fix. She was tired of dealing with not only the weight gain, but also tired of the uncomfortable symptoms such as bloating, constipation, unwanted hair growth, and excessive fatigue.

We took a root cause approach, had some labwork done, and got to the underlying issue that was causing her weight gain. We supported her body instead of taking away nourishment and her symptoms started to disappear!!

Where is my client at now? Read below!

The best part about working with this client is watching her grow to love her body and feel more confident in it. Here is an update I recently got from her:

“Oh yeah, I’ve also lost 10 pounds without even focusing on it, but I feel so good I kinda forgot I even wanted to lose weight!”

THIS….this right here is why I love what I do! Watching my clients heal their body from the inside out as they create the life they always wanted but thought they could never have 🤍

It’s not a lack of willpower, not exercising enough, eating too many carbs, eating too much meat, or any of the other 100 lines you’ve been told before. That’s why getting to the root cause of YOUR symptoms are important to taking the steps to achieve weight loss. Let's get to the root causes of your symptoms and get you on a personalized path.
